Rainbow Christmas Tree Team Project
Preschool Art Lesson Plan (30-40 Minutes): Rainbow Christmas Tree
Theme: Rainbow Christmas Tree Team Project
Duration: 30-40 minutes
Learning Goals:
Foster teamwork and collaboration among students.
Develop fine motor skills through coloring, cutting, and sticking activities.
Explore color recognition and how individual contributions come together as a whole.
Celebrate the spirit of Christmas and the joy of shared creation.
Lesson Plan:
Introduction (10 minutes):
Ask children: "What holiday is coming up in December?" (Answer: Christmas)
Show images of Christmas elements such as Christmas trees, ornaments, stars, and lights.
Explain: "Today, we will work together to create a Rainbow Christmas Tree. Everyone will contribute a special part to the tree, and we will build something beautiful together as a class."
Step-by-Step Activity (30–40 minutes):
Creating 3D Christmas Lights (10–15 minutes):
Hand out colored paper for the Christmas lights (3 sheets per child).
Guide them to fold two of the sheets in half, then glue them onto the third sheet to form a 3D light.
Encourage children to decorate the lights with additional colors or patterns if they wish.
Once all the lights are made, the teacher will string them together to hang later.
Assign Colors and Names (5–10 minutes):
Show the pre-designed sample of the Rainbow Christmas Tree.
Explain that the tree will have multiple layers, each in different colors of the rainbow.
Based on the length of each child’s name, assign a color for each child. The teacher will have pre-prepared name dots with the child’s initials in the assigned color.
Ask the children to choose colored markers or crayons to link the dots and form their names.
Decorating the Christmas Tree (10–15 minutes):
Provide Christmas-themed stickers (such as stars, ornaments, candy canes) for children to decorate their section of the tree.
Explain: "Now it’s time to decorate your part of the Christmas tree with these fun stickers. You can place them however you like!"
Star Creation (5–10 minutes):
Designate one child to create the star for the top of the tree.
Provide gold paint or glitter for this child to decorate the star, making it stand out and shine brightly.
The teacher will assist if needed to ensure the star is ready for placement.
Completion and Assembly (10 minutes):
Once all the children have completed their sections, arrange the layers of the tree by color and name on the wall in order, starting from the bottom to the top.
Secure the tree sections using nails or tape.
Attach the pre-made 3D lights to the tree by linking them as a colorful string.
Place the star at the top of the tree, with the child's name who created it.
Reflection and Sharing (10 minutes):
Gather the children around the completed Rainbow Christmas Tree.
Discuss: "Look at this beautiful tree! Every one of you helped build it. Just like this tree, each of you is a special part of our class, and we need each one of you to make it complete."
Encourage children to share how they feel about their contribution to the tree.
